Suede - Spring/Summer 2015 Trend

Interviews with: Elisa Sednaoui & Gaia Trussardi.Suede is going to make your skin soft this summer. Not usually found in summer and yet the suede imposes itself into our summertime wardrobe. Like a second skin, the velvety suede takes on different aspects, coloured, adorned with designs and other ornamentations. Several trends emerge from it, the first with a military feeling influence, with an army of khaki on the catwalks. Even when plain and simple, the line remains however very sensual. Comfort is equally the focus with the loose trousers and tunics but in a luxury version.

Another trend is with a reminiscence to the seventies. Treated most often in its natural colour, the suede is available in flared trousers, and little A-line skirts. Gucci made it the standout fabric in their latest show. Decorated with huge golden buttons, embellished with fringing and ties, for a very chic hippy vibe or perforated with metallic yoke stitching, it becomes more rock and paired with other materials.

Reworked, lightened, and modernised by the designers, the suede discovers a new lease of life. In a more graphic spirit, the suede is worked in colour block/solid colours or under the form of patchwork. All the basics of the wardrobe are taken over by this material, and worn as a second skin for an urban and sporty silhouette. Without a doubt, the suede will make your skin soft this summer.

Elisa Sednaoui: It’s a richness, a sophistication, and at the same time a simplicity, absolutely delightful and for me it really represents the beauty of « Made in Italy » clearly with the Karl Lagerfeld touch which brings something timeless, classic and at the same time something extremely modern.

Gaia Trussardi: She wears sporty looks, timeless, like tank tops, bomber jackets, miniskirts of tennis inspiration, polo shirts all made out of the most luxurious leathers.
